Welcome to Paragon! ( Return To Your Element | Join the Elements? )

November 20: The Anord have now finally decided on a course of action to solve their current issue. Perhaps too, they can figure out how to solve the strange weather berating the lands as well, making things difficult for all wolves, as the storm continues to rage on unchecked, winds tossing those around that attempt to use the air, and rains drenching all that choose to be out in the elements instead of in a warm, safe, den. The wolves of lightning will not be able to do this on their own, they will need to enlist the aid of others in their quests. Hopefully, they can forge their way through!
As well, you'll notice some minor changes being made here and there to the Website, specifically the Timeline on the World page, and the Seasons, wherein it specifies how the different seasons affect different elemental packlands. It is always a good idea to read and re-read the website as you continue on your merry journeys, for as things change and evolve, so too does some of our information! Finally, you'll notice that the "Adoptable Pre-Made Characters" Thread is undergoing construction. The finished project should make it easier to read and sort through, expect that amongst other things to be finished this coming weekend! ~ Cheryl
November 9: Just a quick FYI: I do keep track (and the board does as well) of ip addresses and can recognize emails that have been used prior when creating accounts. This is how I can tell if you have multiple accounts on the game. It is in your best interest then, if you are intending on playing a character, to register it yourself so that miscommunication is not had. (And yes, you can still ask me to register a character for you if you do not have an alternate email, that is kept track of manually) As well, due to people not understanding that we require you to state "other characters played here" on your application, it has now been edited into the Character Application Form for better clarification. Currently pending applications must edit this into their application before they can be accepted and it is thus required now on all future applications! Please help make sure our records are kept straight! Thanks! :) ~ Cheryl

Rules for Entering Pack Lands:

It is very simple; you enter pack lands, and you will be challenged by a pack member. Be it the Alpha, Beta Hunter, or an Omega, a pack member is allowed to challenge entrance of any foreign wolf. It may be just a friendly inquest or it could be a snarling denial of access. No wolf has automatic permissions or allowances to be on foreign pack lands unless previously arranged by the Alphas. Only the Alphas may give permission in such a way. If your wolf enters another pack's lands without stopping first at the border to ask for entrance, they are completely at the mercy of the other pack . . . which oftentimes can be fatal. Don't say you weren't warned . . .

It was nearing the end of Autumn, as Sylvan could feel the chill bite working it's way into the air. She also sensed the death and decay that came in from all sides; the Emerald Forest was safe so long as the element of earth was still amongst them, however, in other places, the trees and grasses had browned, the cycle of life continuing on. It was fitting then, that perhaps she called all the Critheans together now, before the harsher winter hit.

She stood in her place of choice for the meetings of the forest; the clearing where the focus sat, the gargantuan stone below her, as she stood upon a high branch of the tree where her den resided. It was here that she would call the wolves together, so that they could discuss the recent happenings of both the severe Lasair and the strange mist that had seemed to take wolves into another place that Sylvan well knew of. Raising her muzzle to the sky, she let out a howl that had much meaning, summoning her wolves to her. All would come, they would have to, for they had much to discuss.

I Want To Fall All the Way Down

It was wonderful to be home and free of the ever changing surroundings of the Shrouded Lands. Never again did she wish to visit those horrible lands. The warden ranger had only been in the lands a short while and had escaped thanks to a pair of kind Spiorads. Sinopa was grateful to these wolves that she would never likely forget their kindness.

Now back home Sinopa had gone straight back to her daily duties as the warden ranger. She was in the middle of patrolling the borders in fact when the Crithean Luminary Sylvan’s call rang out. Stopping mid stride while darting across a bridge-like branch the ranger listened to the beckoning of her alpha and right away she turned around dashing towards their focus. Excited to know that she would soon be seeing the other wolves of earth she made it quickly to the clearing where the focus stone resigned.

With a happy smile on her muzzle she rushed up to greet the waiting Sylvan. “Greetings Sylvan. It is wonderful to be home and see you and everyone else again” Sinopa says in a happy tone with a wag of a tail.

Kishi moved about the forest and made her way to the center where she had heard a call from Sylvan. Being back was a good feeling and she had missed her home since she had been in the shrouded lands for so long. Upon reaching the area she gave a bow to a wolf she didn't know and to Sylvan. "I have returned Sylvan. The Shrouded Lands are not a place for the inexperienced thats for sure."

Kishi spoke as she eyed the silver and brown hued female. She could see short highlights of green within her pelt as well and noted that she seemed to be a ranger from her build. One could never tell however. As she eyed the foci Kishi gave a sigh and closed her eyes. Feeling its power, she was relaxed and more in tune to her element now. It was almost like she had been gone for a long time, but she was sure she hadn't been.

OOC stuff here
till it's gone

Long green socked limbs guided Streiter towards the focus, right green ear twitching as Sylvan’s calling was still ringing within his ear. The warden Sentinel hadn’t been far from where the Luminary chose to make her calling, having only been a few meters away. Giving his head a shake, the male appeared through the trees, chocolate brown and light green patched fur hardening casually as he approached the group of females. Paws stepped lightly as his bulky form rippled, light hazel eyes gleaming as he turned to look to them. Giving his head a bow, ebon lips parted and his smooth earthy voice sounded, "Greetings all." his eyes trailed towards Kishi and Sinopa, "Long time no see, it‘s good to have you both back." he smiled in a charming manner and gave a small flick of his tail.

Glancing back towards Sylvan now, the male lowered himself to his haunches and seated himself comfortably within the group. Licking his muzzle, he glanced around the forest, eyes searching for others that would soon be along to join them in this meeting.

Simply Earth-breaking, Earth-shattering

Kyon was in the middle of checking on the forest condition near the north border. The soil was firm there and the trees flourished--very unlike the brittle, blackened area near the opposite end. He was just about to practice his charms when an all too familiar howl hit the air in a commanding tone. Immediately, Kyon put what he was doing aside and went towards the destination not be ground but by the tree-tops. Thick and coarse branches supported his weight well, and Kyon looked at them appraisingly. Good, they would definitely be able to survive the winter.

The Mediator soon sensed the presence of a few wolves and his emerald eyes sought them from the top. There was Sylvan, Sinopa, Kishi and Sylvas Streiter. The Critheans were quite few in number, but they would have to survive. Deftly, Kyon leapt down from the tree and hit the ground with a soft thud just beside Sylvas. "Greetings all. It's good to see everyone in good health." He then turned to face Sinopa, and was it shame that he felt? In a low tone, he directed his next comment to her. "I'm sorry Sinopa." Kyon kept the thought of the Lan in his mind. The Lan had let him go, so there was no reason to startle anyone now. Ensuring that the ground was free of thorns or anything prickly, Kyon sat beside Strei and waited to see what Sylvan had to say.

Fei looked up from her work with a mild start. She couldn't quite hear it from within her den but...was that a howl? The wolfess mulled it over in her mind and decided that yes, Syl was probably calling a meeting. Hmm...she didn't exactly feel like going--it wasnt like she anything to report--but she should probably attend, if for no other reason but to say hi to the Luminary. Reluctantly, she stopped shuffling and organzing her herbs and headed off toward the gathering.

When she arrived, she remembered exactly why she didn't want to go in the first place. Though a couple of the faces were familiar, none of them were her friends, except for Sylvan Shadows. Sedou wasn't there yet, she noted unhappily. So, she sat off by herself, feeling uncomfortable and out of place, looking over her shoulder anxiously for her big brother to at least give her some comfort.

The Day Became A Paradigm

ooc:. Missing a couple, but it seems they've chosen now to go on absence. ;.;
ic:.
She watched as her pack came filtering in. The first was her Warden Ranger, Sinopa, and she nodded to her, smiling and continuing to as Kishi, then Sylvas, Kyon came to attend. However, when the younger Feintise arrived, she moved down from her tree to approach her. It was good to finally see her again. "I was worried perhaps you'd gotten lost there for some time. I hope you've recovered a bit better, I miss your herbal knowledge."

Grinning at her and giving her a nod, she then looked around to note that she was still missing a few members of the pack. Perhaps they had been further away and were still yet to arrive. A slight frown marred her face, realizing Kalamity was one of the ones that was late, and she flicked an ear, hoping that the wolfess had not gone against her instructions about the pack. Turning then to address the wolves around, she began with what might be the simplest thing; the troubles of this past Lasair.

"It is good that all of you have come, our pack may be small but we are still close knit which is far more important than numbers. There are many important issues that we must discuss, and first among those is the recent Lasair. The heat had affected many, and even our own forest was not left untouched. There are likely many things that some of you might wish to speak of or know about the fire and it's affects, and I would hear them now." Her emerald eyes looked around at all of them, waiting for the first one to speak.

Kishi looked about greeting everyone and asking how they were as time went on. It was good to see everyone approaching the meeting and being happy of sorts. With this emotion running through her, plants began to grow and Kishi only just noticed it and spoke to them silently whispering hushes for them as Sylvans voice spoke up.

"It is good that all of you have come, our pack may be small but we are still close knit which is far more important than numbers. There are likely many things that some of you might wish to speak of or know about the fire and it's affects, and I would hear them now."

Kishi nodded and looked about her wondering who would speak first. She needed to hear about the fight with the Tineans and what happened to the male that caused it all. As it was mentioned, Kishi could hear the trees moaning in pain for their brethren and it became partially loud. Kishi made a motion with her paw to a group of the loudest ones and moved it up and down for them to lower their voices. They could mourn, but not too loudly that she couldn't hear Sylvan!

Ooc; I'm trying to keep up hard with the characters I can, but I'm still partially on absence.

Oh how very late she was! Kalamity had merely been traipsing around the borders, trying hard to cover every bit of ground she could before taking a break, when she'd stumbled across what appeared to be some sort of den. After sticking her head in it, and almost getting it stuck, she'd been too flustered with herself to pay attention to the howl that had echoed around the forest. It was only now that she had acted upon the instinct to heed the call.

And now that she was, there was no mistaking it. The long limbed female was using all the gifts of a Crithean to run over the ground at top speed, lungs expanding and contracting rapidly to supply her muscles with the necessary oxygen. Of course, her body was beginning to protest such strains, but her mind effectively shut the clamoring out. There was no excuses for being late, that much Kalamity knew without the chunks of her memory missing.

As she thought about that, the revelation that she was regaining information came to her. Luckily it had appeared she'd merely had a bout of amnesia, caused by an injury of some sort. After all, she had a small scar on her forehead now from back when she'd first woke up Displaced. Suddenly she turned sharply, skidding to avoid missing the turn. Her pack mates were standing about there, looking at Sylvan.

Immediately her body language shifted, and the late Omega's head dipped low, her eyes staying carefully averted. Her tail was also carried low, and she slunk into view, before muttering an apology. "Sorry for my lateness, I kind of had my head stuck in a hole..." After that was over, she sat, waiting for the others' words.

The Day Became A Paradigm

ooc:. Hrm. Seems my wolves don't like to talk in pack meetings. Okies, moving on. wink.gif
ic:.
The Crithean Luminary was actually surprised that none of the wolves spoke up about the fire and the past heat. No questions, no concerns, nothing. Strangely enough, that made her wonder if it had been that she was perhaps too strong of a presence here, intimidating those into silence? Mentally shaking her head she realized that was a silly notion and instead gave a slight smile to Kalamity as she finally showed up.

"One of the first things I would like to speak to you is the status of a recent goings on that I wish to clear up the specifics of. A member of our pack recently led an unwarranted attack on the Ruby Desert, blaming the Tineans for the heat and the fire that took a part of our lands." Shifting her gaze from one wolf to the next, she made sure that her next words were understood, or at least heard. It was a tentative alliance at times, that she was able to keep with the other packs, and she wanted none of them to have any sort of similar ideas as the one that had led to those recent events.

"This attack was not sanctioned by myself, and in fact, I wish you all to know that I have an alliance, a friendship with the current Luminary of their pack. We have no reason to wish them harm, and any wolf that goes against my own feelings on this subject will suffer a punishment, as did the one that led the attack. I require understanding, communication, and above all, peace between the other packs. If any of you have any problems or questions about this, I would hear them now." There it was, laid out for them to see. Sylvan's stance was strong in this matter; she did not take kindly to those that acted out in such a manner, preferring to communicate, to try and understand, rather than simply making assumptions.

Kishi was surprised at how silent it had been, but then again, she was most of the time silent anyway. Listening to Sylvan speak, she became surprised that any of her fellows would venture to the ruby desert and attack them with no valid proof that the Tineans set the forest on fire! Kishi could hear the treas moan in despair as she mentioned it and Kishi mentally hushed them to be quiet and then focused on her Luminary once more.

When she spoke about how she wanted any comments on the matter now, relating to issues on the communication and such, Kishi remained silent to allow the others a chance to speak. "What has happened to the aggressor from our pack who started it?" Kishi was curious as to where he or she went and if they would be returning and she hoped she hinted to that in her voice.

Kalamity's fear of being punished lessened at Sylvan's reaction to her showing up. Finally the emerald green wolfess allowed her body to stretch out to full length again, and blinking, she gazed around. There were familiar faces around her, most notably Feintise, Sylvan Shadows, and then Sylvas Streiter. The others she might have met in passing, but she couldn't put a name to their face.

As she settled herself down, the gray markings on her mainly emerald body being slightly obscured as her tail curled around her paws, she wondered what the meeting was going to be about. Granted, she probably had missed a little bit of it already, Kalamity was still willing to bet that there would be more problems that they needed to answer. Tresevort's missing. The thought popped into her head before she could stop it, and with a subtle shake of her ruff she ignored it.

Then Sylvan's words echoed in her mind, and her ears pricked. Something had happened between the Tineans and the Critheans? Well, that was what she got for being slightly scatterbrained. Making a mental note to be more involved in what happened within the pack, Kalamity looked around, waiting for someone to ask a question before she asked hers.

Shortly after Kishi had voiced her question, Kalamity's own soft voice entered the air. "Are there any restrictions on the wolves being allowed to see some of the forest? I don't want to do anything to jeopardize the pack, since there might be runoff emotions." Kalamity's words were nothing but truth. The wolfess had only met with one wolf at the border, and that had been a Reioghan who'd been respectful to her, and had even kept herself a little uncomfortable to keep the Crithean from freezing.

Shifting slightly, Kalamity's green eyes landed on Sylvan's form, waiting to hear the answers patiently.

The Day Became A Paradigm

ooc:.

The obvious question popped up, asked by the ever intuitive Kishi. The Luminary's head dipped slightly, before she spoke, not really wishing to give the answer but knowing she had to. Otherwise, the pack could go unknowing, and that was not how she wished things to be at all. Truly, this would be sad news to most, as it had been to herself.

"The aggressor was Tresevort, a trusted Sentinel. He was given a task to clear his mind by staying out of the forest for up to 2 sunrises before returning with a clear thought and new mindset. He has not returned, and it has now been over 3 sunrises that he has not done so. I presume that his mind, being too clouded, was unable to be cleared and he has become lost. We should mourn our fallen comrade and seek to not let such misguided actions such as he exhibited come into our hearts or minds." Her voice was solemn and again she made sure to look each wolf in the eye as she said this. It was important for them to understand all that she intended by this sharing of information. A warning, given soundly so that they may not make the same mistake. She looked up to the canopy, a chill wind bespeaking of Fuacht and the oncoming Dorcha making her fur ripple. Then, back to her wolves assembled.

"As I always have, I wish there to be only caution taken towards those that wish to enter here, no aggression unless it is deemed necessary by a wolf's actions. There are allies that we have, that would not mind learning more about our element and our ways, and so long as it does not jeapordize our safety, then I am definitely open for communication and information exchange." She nodded to Kalamity, knowing that as a Sentinel, she had been doing a fairly good job of staying at the borders, and likely learning more about others in the process. That was something that she wished all of her wolves would take the time to do, as understanding others was a first step in helping to strengthen ties all around.

"I would also like to bring to everyone's attention that even though it seems that our main number is dwindling, I believe that there is nothing to fear. After all, we have had some harsh times, and it is only natural that some might not stick with us through all of them. Do any of you have any concerns that you would like to pose in relation to this?"

Kishi continued to listen and too became saddened on what happened, but Kishi wished to know for Tresevort was her comrade and she worried for him for he was her elemental brother. Kishi continued to listen as Sylvan spoke those coming and learning about the pack. Indeed the next time Kishi saw some one walking about the borders not of their element, she would be willing to share the information about their pack if they asked for it.

"I do not believe I have anything to say in relation to it, but I pray that our numbers don't drop too low. I wish for us to remain in our forest home. It is what keeps us living I believe. I think it would be a little difficult to live without our trees." Kishi spoke as she looked about the leafy branches and such. "And with this coming Dorcha I am worried of the prey amounts."

Simply Earth-breaking, Earth-shattering

The pack was unusually quiet. Perhaps pack gatherings were meant to be like that. Besides, being Critheans, they could be as peaceful and quiet like the forest. Still, it was unsettling. The conversation was going on between three wolves, while the rest of them had lapsed into silence. Till now, Sinopa had taken not shown signs of response to his apology. A small sigh escaped from his muzzle. Perhaps he had said the wrong thing. Sometimes, females were hard to comprehend. Finally, Kyon decided to break the silence. Baritone rang out, clear and assuring. Emerald eyes turned to Kishi. She seemed well rested. Hopefully, she had recovered from her trauma. "Indeed, Kishi. As long as the pack remains strong in faith, then the pack would never be separated. We're small, but mighty." A slight smile appeared on his muzzle before he turned back to face Sylvan. This time, he became more serious. "I agree with Kishi on one point though. Prey will definitely be scarcer, for part of our land has crumbled into ashes. How show we go about the hunting Syl?" Tail thumped onto the ground and his hindlegs dug into the ground alittle.

When Kalamity heard Sylvan's words, her emerald eyes filled with sadness. One of her old charm mentors had led a self-imposed attack on another pack? As her head dropped a little, she pondered on something. Though Tres would have been the first wolf she might have guessed on an ordinary situation, things made sense to her. She had spoken with him right before he'd left, apparently, and he'd been furious and lost in memories. Now, she knew why.

Lifting her gaze once more when Sylvan Shadows answered her own question, Kal gave a solemn nod, before answering. "Alright, I'll continue to give the wolves a tour if they so wish." Her voice was soft and earthy, though it didn't carry as much of the earth tones as Sylvan's or the Beta's. Then, Kishi spoke once more, and Kalamity listened.

At the mentioning of Dorcha, Kalamity shifted slightly, haunches easily displacing her weight when she'd settled. Prey was always something to worry about. . . But she'd remembered only one thing from her past, and that was the fact she was a Ranger before. Granted, she loved her Sentinel duty to pieces, it didn't mean she couldn't help with the hunting should they need it.

"I could help with hunting if they needed it. . ." She mumbled, averting her eyes.

The Day Became A Paradigm

ooc:.

At Kishi's mention, Sylvan nodded to her sagely. It was true, the dwindling of the forest was a concern on everyone's minds. However, the Luminary held the faith in the Forest Spirits strong within her and that faith was like an aura that exuded from her proud form. The forest would not come to fall not while she was in it, and going strong. The pack needed to keep faith, and hopefully they could look to her for an example.

"The forest spirits will provide, as they always have. Holding your faith in your element strong, and showing others that you have pride and knowledge will help in ways you cannot yet know." Her voice was strong as she said this, eyes touching on each wolf that stood or sat before her. Kyon spoke next and she smiled to her Mediator, knowing his words were truth as stated.

"You have reiterated a good point, and to that, I can only say to hunt well, and without excess. The Grasslands have also been a decent source of prey when things are scarce, in times of a large pack. So feel free, though be wary, as the territories that hold no element can also hold less desirable things. You also must be respectful of other wolves there." Nodding, as if that were simply the answer, she continued on, towards the next topic, even as Kalamity muttered her offer of assistance. It would be needed, of course, but there was no reason to call attention to the newer of the earth element.

"As well, we have also had some that have recently come back from within the mists. I have a feeling I know of what lands you traveled, and will caution you that such things are known to happen in the lands from time to time. Are there any questions or concerns in relation to recent events?"
